President's Message

Greetings! Welcome to our website, LAECA. org. The Louisiana Early Childhood Association (LAECA) is a non-profit early childhood organization for teachers, parents, caregivers and early care professionals dedicated to improving the lives of Louisiana’s children birth to eight years of age. Our regional organization is SECA, or the Southern Early Childhood Association. A link to SECA is provided on the homepage for interested persons.

Our annual state conference is held each fall. Plans are already underway for the 2009 LAECA Fall Conference to be held on October 15-17, 2009 in Monroe at the Monroe Civic Center. Johnette Downing, Louisiana author and musician, is the keynote speaker. The call for proposals is on our website and all interested members or guests can download a copy and submit to Janie Humphries, program chair. Laura Chestnut and Emily Williamson are the conference chairpersons. They and the entire conference committee are working diligently to bring a successful conference to North Louisiana. Please mark the dates in your calendar and make plans now to join us! Check the website soon for the conference registration form and hotel information.

LAECA has great things going on in our state with regard to young children. If you are a member and not sure how you can be involved in this organization, contact your District Chairperson. A link is provided on our homepage that shows the state of Louisiana and the seven districts with the necessary contact information. If you are not a member and want to know more about our worthwhile organization, please contact me or someone on our LAECA Board. We will be glad to visit with you and share our goals and vision for the Louisiana Early Childhood Association.

Members, check out our webpage and recommend us to your early childhood colleagues who are not members of LAECA. We are in the process of updating our website and would love to have your feedback as we strive to improve LAECA.org and meet your needs, whatever that may be. Let us know what you think!
